Member of Parliament for Most, Zvonimir Troskot, criticized the government’s policy towards entrepreneurs and craftsmen on Friday, calling the State Inspectorate an “economic Udba”.
“The State Inspectorate has been engaged, which when reduced to the essence of its activities is nothing more than an ordinary economic Udba that goes out into the field and stifles craftsmen and entrepreneurs with a threatening attitude,” said Troskot in the discussion on changes to the Fiscal Responsibility Act, which aligns the legislation with the legal acquis of the European Union.
He asks where was the fiscal responsibility when the EU funds for the reconstruction of Banovina were not withdrawn, but also when the tax on extra profits was introduced to cover budget deficits, when it was necessary to control “local sheriffs who use budget money for prostitutes” and when it was necessary to control prices.
“Where were you then the economic Udbo, where are you masters, where are you heroes”, Troskot asked, asserting that “no one is doing communist social measures of price correction.
Bernardić: There is no fiscal or political responsibility in Croatia
Davor Bernardić (Social Democrats) continued, concluding that there is absolutely no responsibility in Croatia, neither fiscal nor political.
“Money comes out of state-owned enterprises in a movie, Hollywood way, the directors of state-owned enterprises have two to three times higher salaries than the prime minister, money is taken out in various ways, foreign trade chains that were favored do whatever they want, the Russian yacht disappears and nothing happens to anyone” , Bernardić said.
He also mentioned the Zagreb holding, saying that he had borrowed the entire property for a loan of two billion kunas “so that the directors of the Holding would have Teslas and the citizens would pay for their apartments”.
Grozdana Perić (The HDZ Club) does not agree that there is no control and that nothing has been done in recent years. “Growth rates in recent years were significantly higher than the inflation rate, that was forgotten, and now that we have imported inflation, they want to blame everything on this government,” she said.
Satisfied with certain improvements, Lalovac suggests additions until the second reading
The law, he points out, additionally strengthens the responsibility, dedicated and purposeful use of budget funds, both of state and local self-government. In the same way, the obligation to provide a statement on fiscal responsibility is extended to include trading companies majority-owned by Croatia or local individuals. The role of the Fiscal Policy Commission is also being strengthened, Perić said.
“That there is good control is shown in INA, Hrvatski šume, HEP, local units…”, said ironically Zvane Brumnić (Social Democrats) and added that the only thing that is well controlled is the PR of this government.
Boris Lalovac (SDP Club) praised certain improvements brought about by the law and suggested that it be supplemented by the second reading so that companies of national strategic interest, such as INA, submit statements on fiscal responsibility.
Before the debate on the law on fiscal responsibility, the government representative rejected the amendments submitted by the opposition representatives to the bill on the termination of the law on the identity number and one conclusion on changes to the law on travel documents of Croatian citizens.
